Mac Migration

The Challenge - A long-term client was operating on a Late 2014 27-inch iMac. While the machine had served them well, Apple had officially classified it as "Obsolete," meaning hardware repairs were no longer possible and, crucially, it had stopped receiving macOS security updates.
The client was experiencing software incompatibility, sluggish performance, and persistent connectivity issues with their network printer. They wanted a replacement that matched the large visual workspace of their old iMac but were hesitant about the high cost of Apple’s current 27-inch equivalent (The Mac Studio + Studio Display)

The Solution - Instead of a direct like-for-like replacement, I built a "Smart Value" workstation:

Hardware - Custom-spec Mac Mini (M4 Chip, 24GB RAM) paired with Dual 27-inch 4K LG Monitors.

The Result - The client received a machine significantly faster than their old iMac with double the screen real estate. By choosing high-end 4K third-party screens over Apple’s own brand, the client saved over £1,000 without sacrificing visual quality.

WI-Fi Repair

The Challenge - A client’s home network collapsed after a third party attempted to "upgrade" the system. A reliable, hardwired Ubiquiti setup had been bypassed in favor of unstable Wi-Fi repeaters and Powerline adapters, leaving the remote office and Smart TVs offline.

The Solution - I conducted a full site survey to identify and remove the conflicting consumer-grade equipment. I re-commissioned the disconnected enterprise Access Point to effectively penetrate the property’s thick walls and simplified the media setup by connecting Smart TVs directly to the restored Wi-Fi network. Finally, I stabilized the VOIP phone system and planned a hardwired Ethernet run for the home office to ensure drop-free calls.

The Result - The client received a machine significantly faster than their old iMac with double the screen real estate. By choosing high-end 4K third-party screens over Apple’s own brand, the client saved over £1,000 without sacrificing visual quality.

Hospitality Network & POS Integration

The Challenge - A busy hospitality venue was facing a critical operational issue: their Point of Sale (POS) system was unstable, with tills frequently failing to communicate with kitchen and bar receipt printers. The existing network was a fragile mix of consumer-grade routers, daisy-chained Ethernet splitters, and unmanaged devices that could not handle the traffic demands of a commercial environment.

The Solution - I overhauled the infrastructure by installing a full Ubiquiti UniFi stack, including a Cloud Gateway Ultra, PoE switches, and Wi-Fi 6 Access Points distributed across multiple floors. I segmented the network into secure VLANs: one for critical business hardware (CCTV, Music, POS) and a separate, isolated Guest network with a captive portal. Crucially, I collaborated directly with the POS provider (Lightspeed) to implement Static IP assignment and MAC address binding for all printers, ensuring rock-solid communication between the ordering pads and the kitchen.

The Result - The venue now operates on a professional-grade network with zero POS communication dropouts. The new topology separates guest traffic from sensitive business data for security, while a pre-configured "Hot Spare" access point and automated cloud backups ensure the business is protected against future hardware failures.
